The Sing Up Foundation

As part of its 10th Birthday celebration in 2017, Sing Up has announced that it will be creating a new charity – the Sing Up Foundation.

Sing Up has always been a champion of the wider benefits of singing – for education, social and health outcomes – and we want to mark our 10th birthday with a commitment to a new charitable purpose around singing. From creating meaningful support networks around singing together to improving cognitive ability, singing is a powerful and underused tool for considerable positive impact.

The planning is still in the relatively early stages and a large part of the organisation’s 10th Birthday work will be about researching need and renewing an understanding about where the Foundation can best make a difference, but Sing Up is particularly interested in working with schools and other services around the specific challenges that people face in 2017 and the extent to which regular singing can be part of a solution.

The intention is that the foundation will look at supporting work in 3 areas:

  • Singing for teens with mental health challenges
  • Singing for children with special educational needs
  • Singing for older people
