The Corps of Army Music (CAMUS) employs more than 650 musicians in bands that cover almost every genre.

You’ll join an elite group of world-class musicians who will become much more than just your bandmates. They’ll become your Army family.

Job Description

Join the Army as a musician and you could find yourself at the heart of Britain’s most famous events and occasions, like Trooping the Colour or the State Opening of Parliament.

You’ll perform on some of the world’s greatest stages for soldiers, the public and VIPs. It’s a great opportunity to get paid to play music, develop a stable career and work alongside not only the Army, but other services too. You’ll need to pass an audition as well as the usual medical and fitness tests, but if you’re successful you could be in line for a joining bonus of between £4,000 and £10,000. Once you’ve joined, you can gain civilian recognised qualifications in performance, conducting and more.

After training you’ll join one of our many bands. You could be performing anything from musical spectaculars in iconic venues to marches with troops returning from operational tours. Our bands have many different styles, including full-time rock and pop groups, brass bands, symphonic wind bands, marching bands and a string orchestra. You could even train to become a musician on horseback.

Required Skills/Experience

In the Army you’ll be expected to play music to a very high standard, often under pressure. That means working together with your fellow musicians to make sure you all perform well. You’ll learn to play in different styles with different groups for different occasions, expanding your musical knowledge while becoming highly adaptable.

This is a permanent contract.
