ABCD’s 33rd Annual Convention returns to Yorkshire and to Leeds Beckett University. With more than thirty sessions on offer, there is a broad range of choices for choral leaders of all kinds, with presenters both from the UK and abroad.

Sessions include the ever-popular repertoire reading sessions, with all the latest music from our exhibitor publishers and composers, including music for SATB, church choirs, upper voices and SAB, along with sessions on technique, repertoire, and the voice.

The extensive music-trade exhibition will take place throughout the weekend in the Great Hall and is a great place to browse, get ideas, plan new repertoire, plan choir tours, book workshops, buy equipment and much more. Regular exhibitors include the major music publishers, music tour agents and many other specialists.

Pre-Convention conducting course runs from 23-24 August; a practical course looking at rehearsal and conducting techniques for leaders of all kinds of choir – no minimum experience is required. Our Young Conductors’ Course is open to all aged eighteen to 25 not currently earning a living from conducting, running in parallel with Convention so that students can attend Convention events as well. This is a practical, hands-on course; the emphasis is on informality and small-group tutoring.

The base will be at the Headingly Campus, within easy reach of the city centre, and with modern accommodation and free parking on site.
