The Hub works with children and young people across Portsmouth engaging them in instrumental and vocal learning, musical exploration, composition, interactive listening and performance opportunities. This includes individual, group and whole-class tuition, workshops, festivals, large-scale musical events, concerts and performances. The wealth of opportunities is critical to what the Hub believes in – the transformation of lives through music.
Portsmouth Music Hub is a thriving network of over 40 partner organisations, both within and beyond Portsmouth. Partnership working is at the heart of the ethos of Portsmouth Music Hub and its development and evolution have been embraced by the Hub partners including schools and academies, Portsmouth City Council and the local community.
Partners work collaboratively to enhance music education and to develop the best opportunities for children and young people. These opportunities are planned to meet the needs of the children and young people enabling them to thrive both musically and culturally in and beyond the city. There is a multitude of musicians and cultural opportunities in Portsmouth and the Hub provides a shared purpose for cross-cultural partnerships, enhanced communication, in-kind support and increased musical opportunities for all children and young people, including those in challenging social and economic circumstances.
